Great White Buffalo

This buffalo bench was a commission for Sarpy County, Nebraska Board of Tourism to mark the 100 year birthday of Sarpy County. The white buffalo represents the spiritual icon of the Native American Indian, and stands to honor Black Elk, who is buried in Sarpy County. Three rivers run through Sarpy, as through our buffalo, and the ring of butterflies sybolize the county seat of Papillion, which is french for butterflies. The bench is made with just over 8,000 Italian vitreous glass iridescent tiles, is a bit over 4.5' tall, and just shy of 8' long.
