Mosaics for Sale 4

Oregon Trail Through Scottsbluff, Nebraska

The two tiles that are the center mural for this piece are hand painted and come from one of the original buildings in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. As closely as research can bring this artist, it is believed they come from the old hospital. I own two more sets of this mural, and know of no others that remain intact. The mural depicts the travels of a wagon train across the Oregon Trail which ran through Scottsbluff, Nebraska. The mosaic work around the tiles I have done to give the viewer a better feel of the land and conditions of the period. From the Platte River, to the rugged rock faces of the buttes, to the stormy skies and wide open spaces of the prairies, the travelers had much to recon with. The piece measures 2' X 3'. Mosaic materials include pebbles, polished stone, lapis tile, rhinestone, Ponderosa pine bark, stained glass, dried, cured and stained nuts, and hemp. $2000
